My Paralysis Didn’t Stop Me From Creating Complex Body Art (30 Pics)
My name is Elena and I’m a face painter in a wheelchair.
With face painting I can be anywhere and anyone in spite of my paralysis.
Usually, it usually takes me two hours to do my makeup, but it depends on the effect I want. Animals are longer to do, for example. My favourite is lion makeup because I love painting animals. Wild and nature is a very present theme in my makeup and also in my paintings.
Usually, I check Pinterest to find, for example, a frontal photo of the animal I wanted to paint. A frontal photo is normally easier to recreate on the human face. Moreover, I am very careful to use the bumps on my face, such as the nose, lips, and mouth to create a 3 effect of the painting on my face. Also, Instagram is a source of inspiration, because there are a lot of amazing artists on social networks.
Finding the ideas to recreate is the hard part of the work because if I find an idea that really convinces me, I’m sure the work will be good. I think that social networks like Instagram can help you to find inspiration, the important thing is to take inspiration from other amazing artists, without copying the work. If you’re an artist you have your own style, so you don’t need to copy. You can take the same idea but the work will be totally different because the style and the way to paint or draw is different and this is the beautiful part of art.
In the future, I’d really like to do more paintings, to have a personal exhibition of my works. Moreover, I’d really like to participate to the world bodypainting festival this year, after years of covid.
