I'm not diagnosed but maybe I have this. I'm always super bored in classes (whether I like the class or not) and either do the work before they're done explaining it, or am too bored to do it.
Google it, if you have symptoms, talk to your parents. If you're on this site though it's probably not ADHD, symptoms have to appear before age 12, I was diagnosed at 8 lol
BUT if you were raised in 80s or before there was very little awareness of this AND especially if you were a girl. If you didnt have disruptive behavioural problems they wouldn't even consider you had an issue. So yes older adults can suddenly become aware that their life long struggles with organization and motivation may have been unrecognized ADHD. I work in health care with several adults who have been diagnosed and medicated later in life.
What medication will get me motivated? I need a megadose or those dirty dishes will pile up until I run out, and I'd really like to be able to *use* the spare rooms.
When I read "diagnosed at age five" my brain clicked some major connection, as I was a super neatnick before I started school and the opposite since. I think I'll talk to my PCP about this. Maybe it's not bipolar/hermones (my bipolar was def influenced by my "hermones").
My cousin was diagnosed at the same age. Her mom always joked she was mini me and after I was diagnosed she did research and found similarities. Its getting more common for younger people to be diagnosed, I think. The mental health field is definitely getting better every year.
Yeah, it's pretty easy to get passed over for ADHD if you have good coping skills to compensate. I'm almost 40 and only after listening to some TikToks and realizing what they are saying describes my whole life did I realize it's probably something I should look into.
Did this the other day. I finished the entire warmup page for the week in 10 minutes while teacher was saying how to do it, and then during the actual assignment my brain stopped working and I didn't complete the assignment because my brain was pingponging so badly I couldn't read the task cards.

Might also mean you're really smart

Not bored, though. Just that the iMax movie with surround sound that's playing in my head is much more interesting.
